Raccoons are supposed to be nocturnal, like bears, but not always. When not on the roof leaning over the eaves to pull up or knock down a hanging bird feeder (at night), they may take a chance on daylight feeding. Click image for larger view. May load slowly!

But raccoons are understandably skittish. This one scrambled up a tree in daylight to escape the presumed danger of my camera.
